Bukit Kubu Recreational Forest

Bukit Kubu is a forested limestone hill on the edge of Kuala Perlis, set aside as a recreational forest in 1992 and covering about 12 hectares. It is where the town goes in the evening — to run the jogging track, walk the paved circuit, or play sepak takraw on the open ground.

There are two main routes. A paved path skirts the base of the limestone outcrop, and an asphalt track loops it for runners. A short trail climbs to a gazebo that serves as the lookout, which is the only part that needs any effort.

The hill is riddled with caves — locals call it the cave park of Perlis — and the system inside it is still intact. It is not a developed show cave, so treat the openings with the caution any undeveloped cave deserves.

It is genuinely a local park rather than a tourist site, which is much of the appeal: come at dusk and you are among residents, not visitors.
