Wang Kelian View Point

Wang Kelian View Point sits about 304 metres up in the Mata Ayer forest reserve, on the shoulder of Perlis State Park where the state runs into the Thai border. On a clear morning the valley below fills with cloud, and the ridge looks out over what locals call a sea of clouds — the reason most people are here before sunrise rather than after breakfast.

Arriving early genuinely matters. Visitors tend to be in place by around 6:30am, because the cloud layer burns off as the day warms and the air at the top is noticeably cooler than the plain below. Late afternoon is the quieter alternative if you would rather have the sunset and skip the early start.

The walk in is short — roughly five to ten minutes from the car park — but it is uphill the whole way, so flat shoes beat sandals. Parking is free and rarely tight. Entry is a nominal fee, in the region of RM2 for Malaysians and RM5 for foreign visitors.

It pairs naturally with Gua Kelam and the state park itself, all within a short drive of Kaki Bukit, which makes a straightforward half-day loop out of Kangar.
