Ladang Burung Unta Perlis (Ostrich Farm)

The ostrich farm at Padang Besar is the most reliably kid-proof stop in Perlis: a working farm where the birds are close enough to feed by hand, with staff on hand to explain how ostriches actually live rather than just pointing you at a pen.

Guided tours cover the birds' behaviour and habitat, and feeding them is the part children remember — an ostrich taking food from your palm is a strange sensation. There are ATV rides and archery on site as well, charged separately and modestly.

The grounds are kept up, with shaded seating and picnic spots, which matters in Perlis heat. The farm opens daily from 9am to 6pm, and mornings are the better visit on two counts: cooler for you, and the birds are more active before the midday heat sets in.

It sits close to the Padang Besar border crossing, so it slots easily into the same trip as the border market.
