Dataran Kuala Perlis
Dataran Kuala Perlis is the town's waterfront square, and it functions as the front room of the whole place: an open esplanade on the strait where people gather in the evening once the heat drops.
It is the natural start of a walk along the Kuala Perlis seafront, with the floating mosque at one end and the jetty for the Langkawi ferry close by. Food stalls set up nearby, and the town's seafood restaurants are within a few minutes on foot.
The reason to time a visit is the sunset. The square faces west over open water with nothing between it and the horizon — which is why it fills in the last hour of daylight and empties again after dark.
It is a stop rather than an outing, but a good one if you are waiting on a ferry with an hour to spend.
