Choley Kampung Warna Warni Kuala Perlis

Kampung Warna Warni is a working fishing community that decided, in 2020, to paint itself. Seven villages across the water from Kuala Perlis — Kampung Tengah, Hujung Tanjung, Tandiap, Seberang Alor, Baru Seberang, Seberang Jaya and Pulau Ketam, around 3,000 people between them — now form one bright, walkable neighbourhood of painted houses and planted lanes.

The way to see it is by choley, the Thai-style three-wheeler that gives the place its local name. Riders take you through the lanes at a pace that suits looking, which is the point: this is somebody's street rather than a theme park, and the interest is in the ordinary life going on around the colour.

Traders along the route sell laksa, kuih, dried fish and snacks. That trade is the reason the project matters locally — households that depended entirely on the sea now have a second income.

It sits directly across from Kuala Perlis town, so it combines easily with the floating mosque and the jetty.
